The history of BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke) dates back to 1916 when it was founded as an aircraft engine manufacturer. After World War I, BMW shifted its focus to motorcycle production, creating its first motorcycle in 1923. In 1928, BMW acquired the Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach plant, which produced automobiles under the Dixi brand. This marked BMW’s entry into the automotive industry.
Throughout the years, BMW has built a reputation for producing high-performance, luxury vehicles. In 1961, BMW introduced the iconic BMW 1500, the first of the “New Class” of vehicles that defined the brand’s identity for decades to come. In the 1970s, BMW further solidified its status as a luxury car manufacturer with the launch of the BMW 3 Series.
BMW’s commitment to innovation and engineering excellence continued in the 21st century with the introduction of electric and hybrid vehicles under the BMW i sub-brand. Today, BMW offers a wide range of vehicles, from luxury sedans and SUVs to high-performance sports cars under its M division.
